Origami Workshop-Yurt A

This is a beginner workshop for Origami, the Japanese art of paper-folding, where you can learn how to make simple things out of paper squares, such as a traditional crane, flower, samurai helmet, dragon claws, shurikens, and more. Battle of the Cosplay Stars - Flag FB Field

Teams will compete in our annual family-fun event. Come take part in classic family picnic games with a Japanese-game-show twist:  3-legged race, Pong, Kan Jam, fill the bucket with water, pie-eating contest, and Wiffle Ball pitch. They all sound innocent enough, but if you’ve ever seen a Japanese game show, you may want to think twice about volunteering for this one. Four people per team may participate. ALL of them deserve respect and recognition throughout the con. Please remember: You can enter all 3 days, but only win once.  Judged by our Con Queen along with her royal subjects. We are going to be making a Dragon for our summer festival and need your cosplay help. We supply the materials and you supply the know how, teams will break into different divisions...head, body, tail etc and will have 1 hour to complete a functioning Dragon Cosplay thats at least 10 ft long.

Every state has its ghost stories, but no other state has the Dover Demon or the Salem Witch Trials. From sea-side ghosts, to UFOs over the Berkshires, Massachusetts has a rich history of paranormal legend, odd events, and strange denizens. Join us in the dining hall for a Paper lantern workshop. We will supply the materials and show you how to make the craftiest tin lantern around. Hungry, Hungry Hippos Live-Pop’s

Thanks in part to the Lupa Zoo, CampAnime has created a live version of Hungry, Hungry Hippos that involves hippos, apples, and an enclosed area. Participants will throw fruit at the hippos and whichever hippo/participant pair eats the most fruit wins. Sounds pretty cool, right? Unfortunately it's all a lie....our version involves ball-pit balls, 4 people on dolly carts, and a few people pushing them into the pit and pulling them back out with some rope that’s attached to the dollies.  The hungriest hippo wins! Welcome to our first ever puppet panel (say that five times fast). Join Christopher Mullens as he leads this 2 hour hands on course in Puppetry. Chris will give a brief history lesson on Bunraku/Table top puppetry and then will break the class into groups and teach you how to make your own "crumpled" Puppets. The second hour of class will be devoted to the cration of table top/ Bunraku style characters and rehearsals for the Camp's 1st ever live Puppet show. Imagine baseball, but with water balloons. Hit the balloon and run to the base. The pitcher can then take another balloon to throw to the 1st baseman. If he catches it before you get there, you are out. If you beat it or the balloon breaks then you are safe. I’m not going to lie: you will get wet! But you’ll also have some fun. They are actually dead and stuffed, but we’ll have slingshots that you can put the birds in and shoot them at concrete slabs that we have set up and…..wow, I can’t believe you thought we were actually going to do that.    A CampAnime 4.5 event that we tested out over the summer and it ended up being surprisingly fun. We started with a 4 year old (my son) telling really, really bad Knock, Knock jokes. I love the kid but they were just bad. What ended up happening was that everyone got up and they told what seemed like the worst joke they ever heard. It’s like a movie that’s so bad it’s good. Bonsai: an Introduction-Dining Hall

Victor Eng of Bonsai Gardens of Connecticut will be hosting a 90-minute hands-on session (including a video presentation) about the history of the Bonsai. Part of the lecture will deal with the varieties of Bonsai and Victor will bring numerous types to the workshop so you can get a hands-on experience. Flowering and Fruit Bonsai will be on hand as well as the more "traditional" ones. Hosted by Victor Eng.

Lantern Festival- Meet on the Fairgrounds

Join us on our first ever Walk of Lights Lantern Festival. If you made a lantern at our 10 am workshop at the Dining Hall or brought one from home, come join us for a late-night walk throughout the camp. Please do not bring real candles or tea lights...we don't want to burn the camp down! LED candles and lanterns are fine.  The walk starts promptly at 9 pm, so get here a few minutes early if you don't want to get lost.  We will walk a bit through the camp and end at the Bonfire.
