       An introduction to Taiko-Pop's Lodge

In this hands on class we will expore the history of Japanese drums as well as the ensemble Taiko drumming. After the brief introduction to the art people will be invited to learn the basics of the drums with the help of the Uconn Kodama Taiko club. With patience and a bit of hard work you will learn to play a simple piece that will be performed later in the day.

Corpsing is British theatrical slang for unintentionally breaking character by laughing. Now for cosplayers this is a bad thing, so...can you stay in character? Come and see who can stay in character the longest. You'll be given a scene, or asked a question but you'll have to answer in character. Can you react in character to other cosplayers who are also in character even if their character isn't from the same anime, tv show, book, movie or comics? I love the kid but they were just bad. What ended up happening was that everyone got up and they told what seemed like the worst joke they ever heard. It’s like a movie that’s so bad it’s good. Bonsai: an Introduction-Pop's Lodge

Victor Eng of Bonsai Gardens of Connecticut will be hosting a 90-minute hands-on session (including a video presentation) about the history of the Bonsai. Part of the lecture will deal with the varieties of Bonsai and Victor will bring numerous types to the workshop so you can get a hands-on experience. Flowering and Fruit Bonsai will be on hand as well as the more "traditional" ones. Hosted by Victor Eng.

This 90-minute class has a $15 entry fee to help cover costs. Participants in this workshop will get a Bonsai tree, pot, soil, rocks and a tool set to maintain the Bonsai (a $40 value). Victor will be on hand to walk you through the basics of Bonsai and the requirements to maintain a healthy, happy Bonsai. We ask that you pre-register ahead of time so we have enough Bonsai trees for everybody. We will have extras in case you forget but letting us know ahead of time would be nice. Join the Uconn Taiko club as the preform for the guests of CampAnime and be sure to go to their panel earlier in the day to learn the history as well as the basics of Taiko Drumming.

 

Summer festival- Baseball Field (7:30 to 9pm)

It's starts off with a game of Suikawari, after a long hot day at camp who wouldn't want some watermelon and what's better then watermelon? Making a game out of splitting one open. A Japanese picnic game for the whole family kicks off our 1st Summer Festival. Carnival games, silly prizes, a Taiko performance, free food and maybe even a Dragon will be on hand to help celebrate our 1st mini carnival.

Bonsai Workshop Cont.-Pop's Lodge

This 90 minute class has a $10 entry fee to help cover costs. Participants in this workshop will get a Bonsai tree, pot, soil, rocks and a tool set to maintain the Bonsai (a $40 value). Victor will be on hand to walk you through the basics of Bonsai and the requirements to maintain a healthy, happy Bonsai. We ask that you pre-register ahead of time so we have enough Bonsai trees for everybody. We will have extras in case you forget, but letting us know ahead of time would be nice. Lantern Festival- Meet on the Baseball Field

If you made a lantern at our workshop at the Dining Hall or brought one from home, come join us for a late-night walk throughout the camp. Please do not bring real candles or tea lights...we don't want to burn the camp down! LED candles and lanterns are fine.  The walk starts promptly at 9 pm, so get here a few minutes early if you don't want to get lost.  We will walk a bit through the camp and end at the Bonfire. All the world's a stage, and we are merely players. Unfortunately, we are not very GOOD players. If you love reading works by the immortal William Shakespeare, but loathe spending hours trying to decipher Early Modern English, then we have the perfect show. Join us, a couple small-time amateur actors, as we try to recreate greats such as Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Macbeth, and more within spans of 10-15 minutes. An introduction to Taiko-Pop's Lodge (11 am to 11:55 am)

In this hands on class we will expore the history of Japanese drums as well as the ensemble Taiko drumming. After the brief introduction to the art people will be invited to learn the basics of the drums with the help of the Uconn Kodama Taiko club. With patience and a bit of hard work you will learn to play a simple piece that will be performed later in the day.

Over the years, millions upon millions have written stories about the exploits of their favorite characters, and in those stories, certain themes began to appear. These themes soon became standard for fan fiction of all stripes, which led us to wonder: What if we took those themes and mix-and-matched them into the ultimate fan fiction. Come one, come all to the fun game of manhunt with the Attack on Titan characters! The game goes as follows: everyone will be split up into two uneven teams- the seekers, and then the hiders. The seekers' job is to find those who have hidden themselves around camp, while the hiders' only task is to not be found by those who are looking for them. If a hider is found, they then turn into a seeker and will then have to join the search for their teammates. Will you be one of the lucky few who won't be found?
